The more I learn about the benefits of this magical vitamin, the more I am taking my vitamin C seriously. I get my “C”s thru a bunch of sources: a daily supplement, by drinking lemon water and by applying it topically to my face (in the mornings to be specific).

Those of you that know me are aware that for years I have been drinking first thing in the morning a cup of warm water with freshly squeezed lemon juice and a pinch of Himalayan Salt or Celtic Salt. Why? It’s simple: First of all lemon water helps digestion, helps with anemia (which I am very prone to, unfortunately), promotes hydration, energizes the body annnnddd improves skin quality! A pinch of salt just adds a little extra touch to help reduce fluid retention, balance electrolytes and is a great source of minerals that we loose throughout the day. It’s actually believed that Himalayan Salt is rich with 84 trace minerals. Here is my little secret: I take my collagen supplement with my lemon water, as it also helps with the absorption of the collagen.

And my SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic serum! OMG, how this vitamin C-rich serum revitalizes my skin. I apply 3-4 drops in my palm, pat pat pat on my face and within minutes my skin is radiant and I am glowing. And yes, I use this serum in the morning because then I can save my nights for my retinol regimen instead. Retinol and vitamin C used together tend to irritate the skin, so you want to avoid that.

Look, for me, I think it’s all about starting the day on a positive note. It starts with a lemon water here, the vitamin C serum there and, before you know it, you can add to your routine a little neighborhood walk or a booty-shaking workout. Like I always say, take it one day at a time, it’s the accumulation of all the little changes that makes a big difference in the end.
